Charleston

Thanks to Mimi coming to Va Beach to watch our girls, Nate and I were able to take a 4 day getaway to Charleston SC. I have always wanted to visit Charleston and we loved every minute of it! The food & drinks were divine and the "holy city" did not disappoint one bit. Here are a few pictures to remember our trip by.

Some of the gorgeous homes along Battery. I could walk up and down the streets looking at all the Charleston old mansions forever.

The first two nights we stayed at the Harbourview Inn. It was right next to the water but my favorite part was  the rooftop terrace where they served wine and cheese in the evenings and breakfast every morning. It was a beautiful view of the city. Two of the walls in our room were brick and original to the building dating back to the 1700's. It was gorg!

Everyone told us you have to do the touristy carriage ride and we are so glad we did. It was a lot of fun and we learned some fun facts and history about Charleston that only a local tour guide could provide. I actually wanted to take another tour, they offer several different types but we only had time for one.

Nate and I with our horse "Apple"

The first night we ate at SNOB (Slightly North of Broad). It was delish!!

After dinner we had drinks at the Gin Joint. We didn't take any pictures but let me tell you Charleston has taken drinks to a different level!

The next day we walked around the city, went shopping at the City Market & King Street, had lunch at the Tattoed Moose, dinner at FIG, dessert at Hominy Grill, and drinks and live music at The Cocktail Club. At The Cocktail Club Nate had a drink called "A Tale of Two Pistols" this is the description...

Bacon-infused St. Germaine, Bulleit Rye Whiskey,
maple syrup, lemon juice, egg whites, a dash of
aromatic bitters and a bacon-salted rim.

Yes it was rimmed with bacon and he loved it:) Wish we would have taken a picture of it. As you can tell there was lots of food and drinks consumed!

These are the only two pictures we took at dinner that night. Nate and his Tramonto cocktail.....

And me with an empty plate basically. FIG was amazing, the inside of the restaurant was beautiful these pictures didn't capture that. I wish we would have taken pictures of our food, but as soon as we laid eyes on it we started in!

Walking around the city and had to get a pictures outside the Charleston Place!

The Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront park was a few steps outside our hotel.

We stayed at a different hotel the third night because Harbourview was full but it was fun to change up the scene. The Andrew Pickney Inn also had a romantic rooftop terrace where breakfast was served.

Probably one of our favorite things was the tasting we did at the Firefly distillery and Irvine House Vineyards. At the distillery we each tasted 6 different products ranging from Sweet Tea Vodka to Apple Pie Moonshine!

A few of our purchases...

The winery was right next door and we sampled all 5 of their Muscadine wines.

Okay, that's all I have time for!

We also toured Ft Sumter and Ft Moultrie while we were there. It was great to get away but we were really excited to see our girls by the end of the four days! Thanks for running the show while we were gone Mimi.
