Memorial Day Camping

To kick off the summer and celebrate Memorial Day we took the girls on their first camping trip!  The place we went is a family camping resort called Cherrystone. It was about an hour north on the Eastern Shore of Virginia right on the Chesapeake Bay.  We went with two other families and (even though we didn't have any running water or electricity) we had the best campsite at the whole place!  Camp setup was a challenge with 30mph winds and chilly temps the first night but we overcame the elements, nothing was going to get in the way of our fun! The girls loved fishing, crabbing, making crafts, the splash pool, parks, parade, fireworks, playing in the tent and especially the campfire.  I only got my camera out one day so I have very few pictures, but the girls had a great time and were amazing campers!

On the road to Cherrystone with a full load!

We went crabbing and fishing the second day, and we cooked the catch over the campfire.  Julian and Zach got this one.

The Porratas tried to harass us and put this Eagle's sign up right next to our tent when we weren't looking. It says "Stop Eagles Country"!

Three proud military wives posing at our campsite under the stars and stripes.

Merica!

Cherrystone had a Patriotic Memorial Day parade where the kids decorated bikes and dressed up red white and blue. They got prizes for best bike and costume

This day ended with an amazing fireworks show (the girls' favorite part) and s'mores by the campfire. It was a great family weekend. We are excited to do it again soon!

Back home and exhausted from all the fun!!!
