Aubrey bought herself a.....

PINK CAST!!! Well that's how the orthopedic surgeon said it to us in the ER last night!

To make a really long story short(er) she fell last Thursday from one of our kitchen chairs (we think...I was upstairs getting the potty seat at the time!) I took her to the ER that day and the x-ray was hard to read because of swelling (apparently children's x-rays are hard to read anyways bc their bones are still growing) but the doctor didn't think it was broken. He wanted me to watch it closely and go to a follow up apt with her pediatrician. The next day she got movement back in the arm so I didn't  take her to the pediatrician right away, I felt like she was healing up and it was just a bruised elbow. A few days later things didn't seem right with the way she was playing and she was in pain when making certain movements. I made an apt with her pediatrician who did another x-ray and she was very concerned and wanted me to go straight to the ER to see an orthopedic doctor. The ortho doc also couldn't tell on the x-ray but wanted to be cautious because if she did have a sprain/fracture/broken elbow and it went un-treated it could cause damage in her growth plate. He decided to be cautious and put her in a cast and re do the x-ray in a week. The swelling should be down by then and if it is broken she will have to stay in the cast longer if not the cast will come off and we will be on our way. I personally think its bruised but you never know...Aubrey has a very high pain tolerance so its better to be safe than sorry. She LOVES her pink cast and was so good for the doctors and nurses while they put it on. Hopefully next week we will have good news and this thing will be off!
(PS I am really tired from our long night in the ER so hopefully this makes sense and there arn't too many errors:)
The cast doesn't bother her one bit. I think it bothers me more! Bathing should be fun.

  4. At least she looks stylish with her pink cast and she seems to like it for now. We'll be praying that there are no broken bones.
