Shocked...

Aubrey had her follow up appt today to reexamine her elbow.  Since the cast was put on just as a "precaution," Nate and I were 99.9% sure the doc would tell us nothing was broken and the cast would come off.  After the new x-ray, I nearly fell out of my chair when the doctor told me it was "definitely broken"!! I couldn't believe it!  She went 5 days without a cast after the initial fall and only occasionally showed minor pain when using it. I feel even worse because several doctors thought it was Nursemaid's Elbow, and were trying to pop it back into place... OUCH!

I learned from this experience that Aubrey is one tough cookie! I try not to be an over paranoid parent but when she is showing any signs of discomfort I shouldn't question myself and should take her to the doc.  Also, children's x-rays are hard to read, and it's a good idea to get a follow up appt and get multiple opinions.

The good news is since she is so young she should only have to be in the cast for three weeks total. We have one week down and two more to go!

Here is the turtle playing at the park today for one of her friends birthday's. She may have a pink club for a left arm but she can still eat cupcakes and have fun!

  2. I have to say, this makes me chuckle a bit only because the exact same thing happened to me when I was little!! I broke my arm and it took my mom a couple of days to take me to the dr, too!!

  3. A cupcake can make anything better! You go girl, it takes more than a broken arm to miss a party!
